Riding for SERV

SERV Marked Bike

To ride for SERV you need to have a full motorcycle licence (Category A), and two years riding experience and hold an advanced qualification, either IAM / ROSPA. If you are not an advanced rider you will need to enroll on a scheme before you join us and undertake to pass your test within 12 months.

The hospitals we work with require assurance that our riders are competent. As a result all members must undertake an assessed ride to ensure you are comfortable riding with a Blood Box as cargo. If you are an advanced rider and wish to ride the Blood Bike (BMW R1200RT) you will need to undergo a supervised familiarisation ride to ensure you are able to ride the bike confidently and safely. We also require you to attend our GMP training course (3 - 4 hours) and carry out familiarisation rides to all our hospitals. (Training takes place over 2 days on separate weekends).

If you hold an advanced riding qualification (IAM or RoSPA) then you do not have to undertake a check ride

You must have no more than 3 points on your licence and your insurance company must be willing to cover you (Most do free of charge – if not let us know and we will do what we can to help)

A joining fee is required to pay for your hi viz jacket and ID card.
