The Marked Bike

SERV Wessex Bike

Model: BMW R1200RT-P
(2010 model year update)

Our marked bike started life as a demonstrator vehicle for BMW Authorities. SERV Hampshire purchased this bike as our first dedicated Blood Bike direct from BMW when they decided to sell it.

We are the first county within SERV to select the BMW R1200RT-P. The reason for selecting the BMW is that after extensive research into all of the available options, this bike came out as the cheapest to own when considering all the factors such as depreciation, fuel consumption and service costs.

Several advantages the BMW has over other bikes is that the suspension and electrical system has been uprated to cope with the more demanding role of a Police vehicle. In addition it is the only marked motorcycle to be supplied direct from the factory as opposed to converted by a 3rd party. This ensures that the integration of the additional equipment is carried out in the best possible way by the people that designed the motorcycle originally.
